we had a very good turn out for this game. maxed out at 42 players.
the day was an operation style day, with story lines and objectives. we were trying something new, and got mixed opinions but most of it was good.
we started out the day with an attack defend at the base called Sat-Com Delta. made to be a mock communication outpost in a field.
a small team defended the base against a large, experienced attack team. the attack team was able to hit the defend team on 3 fronts almost simultaneously. the defend team held off in some areas, but was quickly overwhelmed and eliminated. the attack team stormed the base and took it over. then we took a break to get more players briefed. while that happened some guys played a quick death match, and a quick ammo burning attack defend game. they were just for fun while guys got set up.
we moved on to a big team death match, 21 on 21. the objective was to secure the creek. both teams sent 1/3 of their team into the field above the ridge, and 2/3's went into the creeks. the battle on both fronts raged for a while, with both teams taking losses, and being pushed forward and backward. the creek was secured by the enemy team, and the attacking team was eventually pushed back to Sat-Com Delta. they made a good push at the end to move out of the base and back to the creek, but eventually they were defeated and overrun.
the next game was a VIP game at the pond. the VIP was guarded by a small skilled force. they larger attacking team was going to assault the pond from high ground, and secure the VIP. but after several attempts to push down the hill, they were unable to make progress. the VIP became overconfident in his squads abilities, and decided to lead a head on charge against the attackers. the charge up the hill was suddenly stooped when the VIP and his squad ran strait into the entire attacking team, seconds after they had regrouped. the VIP tried to fight and run, but the AK47 the VIP used was not working. this lead to the immediate surrender of the VIP to the attacking team. for the record, it was the second time i have been tackled by someone in a hostage game. (nice hit Eric)
the final game was a hostage extraction team. it was a small force moving into a hostile territory. the extract team searched the hostage and headed into the forest to attempt the extract. they made a few pushes, and were stopped quickly. they shifted left and right to try and find a rout that would work, and took some causalities in the process. after a firefight broke out, the hostage took out a knife that the extract team failed to locate during their pat down. the man protecting the hostage was silently knifed, and his weapon was stole (tackling me will not go unpunished Eric. suck it. haha) once the hostage had a weapon and no one was watching, it was easy to escape. many people on both teams did not know why the game ended because of the stealth and speed of the escape. (had to make it sound good lol)
overall the game was fantastic. we had a good turn out, and the weather cleared up enough for us to have a great game.
we will miss the RIT players, hope to see you all in the fall. i promise the field will be a lot nicer the next time you are here!
