Famas F1 Build

So I finally gave in and decided to do this Famas build. I doubt I'll end up using this in games, it's just something to amuse me since I want something to work on. Most likely I'll get it working good and then end up selling it lol. I also wanted to see just how compatible the cybergun model is it is, since the TM famas has virtually no upgrades available.

I'm experimenting a few dream army parts, I wanted to see if they're more or less repackaged shs brand items. Here's what new parts going into the build:

v3 steel spring guide
stainless steel cylinder
torque motor
M125 or M130 spring
New bucking
polycarb piston body w. steel teeth
steel bushings
element pom pistonhead
madbull 6.03 509mm barrel
probably a mosfet

So I guess I'll have to see how the stock gears hold up, but I think they'll do fine. I can already say, the dream army parts are looking quite nice so far. I can't even file the piston teeth, they're rediculously hard. The cylinder is built like a rock, and the spring guide looks pretty nice too.
As for compatibility, the stock cylinder is just slightly longer so I may end up using it but I'm not sure. The motor is a little shorter than a short motor which is annoying. I couldn't find a new nozzle and I don't have enough spares laying around to find the right length, so I have to leave it and the cylinder head stock sad

Here's some of what's going into the build:

Alright so I got it all together, ended up going with an M130 spring, a mosfet, and a modified kwa m4 air nozzle. All I can say is this thing is quite a monster so far. I may need to test it further to make sure the gears will hold up well and the gearbox also, but all is good for now.

Here's what I got for results after the spring settled a bit.
400fps +/-3 with 0.28g bbs
360fps +/-2 with 0.30g bbs

15rps 7.4v lipo
22rps 11.1v lipo

I need a better place to test it out than a half empty parking lot.. but here are my results so far. I was attempting 310ft shots (measured with google earth, you can actually see the lines on the parking lot) with both 0.2g, 0.28g and 0.30g bbs. Obviously the 0.20g couldn't do it, but the 0.28s got a pretty close, they dropped about 40ft short, with some decently tight groupings. And then... a car pulled into a space in the middle of my 'range.' So I didn't have a clear target to shoot at anymore, but I'll say that the 0.3s were going quite far. Maybe not quite 310ft, but if I'm anywhere near correct I don't see why this couldn't hit people at 250 ft at least. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but I did pretty good on this one. All my testing was done with a heavy headwind + slightly to the right, so I just need a calmer day to do more testing.

In total from start to finish, this project was right about 24 hours of work.

damn mike, but I can't say i'm surprised at all that you can get 300 feet with 22rps.

Hey I didn't say 300 ft tongue My target was a small generator or something at 310ft which I wasn't hitting. I'll do some further testing soon.

Did some more testing yesterday. I set my target up at 200ft which was ridiculously easy to hit a torso sized object at. I had even left my gun in the cold for 2 hours so compression wasn't so good and I couldn't even get max range out of the hop up.

However, my mosfet fried, that's what I get for using a cheap china one cool The newer jg mosfets are fine and can actually handle a decent amount of power... this must have been an older one...

so mike do you happen to have any motors laying around that would be in your opinion better than the stock one that comes in my gun, because ill pretty much give you the g&g m4 if you can shim it and put the metal body on and perhaps a new motor.

I actually have no long motors lying around except for a disassembled kwa motor that I might get around to fixing someday. All the ones I have are short motors and they are all just typical garbage coming out of stock guns. Honestly there's no reason why your gun won't run alright for now as long as you don't upgrade the spring. I know the motor isn't so great, but it can't be that bad. When I'm done with your gearbox, it will run smoother and easier with lower voltage batteries. The first thing I'd recommend getting is just a new barrel/bucking.
